Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majid, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the university held a distinguished academic event to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day. The event was attended by representatives from various ministries and institutions from both the public and private sectors, in addition to a large group of over forty inventors and innovators, as well as a gathering of faculty members and researchers from the university.<br /><br />The ceremony began with an opening speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, representing the university leadership. In his remarks, he welcomed the attendees and emphasized that intellectual property protection has become a cornerstone in safeguarding the rights of researchers and institutions, supporting sustainable development, and building a strong knowledge-based economy.<br /><br />During his speech, Dr. Al-Zuhairi announced the launch of the “Intellectual Property Policy Document at Al-Mustaqbal University”, marking a groundbreaking step among Iraqi universities. The document aims to foster an environment that nurtures creativity and innovation while protecting the rights of the university’s students, researchers, and faculty members.<br /><br />The celebration also featured a presentation from the Ministry of Agriculture / National Committee for the Registration, Protection, and Accreditation of Agricultural Varieties, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mahdi Dhamad Al-Qaisi, an advisor to the ministry.<br />Another presentation was delivered by Mr. Ahmed Magdi Khalil, Director of the Administration Department at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals / Directorate of Trademark and Geographical Indications Registration.<br /><br />The Iraqi Association of Inventors and Innovators had a strong presence at the event, represented by its president, Consulting Engineer Teresa Jasem Reda, who presented a paper highlighting the association’s key activities and contributions
