Introduction:

In recent years, lasers have become an important tool in medicine, especially in cancer treatment. One type of laser, called the pulsed laser, delivers very strong energy but for a very short time. This kind of laser is used in research to destroy cancer cells without harming healthy ones.

⸻

What is a Pulsed Laser?

A pulsed laser sends out quick bursts of focused light. These bursts are powerful enough to affect cells, but short enough to avoid wide damage.

⸻

Study Goal:

The study aims to understand how the pulsed laser affects cancer cells and whether it can kill them without damaging healthy cells.

⸻

Method:
• Cancer cells (HeLa, from cervical cancer) were collected.
• Researchers used a green pulsed laser and directed it at the cancer cells.
• The cells were examined under a microscope after exposure to see if they were damaged.
• Healthy cells were also tested for comparison.

⸻

Results:
• The laser caused the cancer cells to break apart and die.
• More cells died when the laser’s power or the number of pulses increased.
• Healthy cells showed little to no damage under the same conditions, suggesting the laser can target cancer cells more specifically.

⸻

Conclusion:

Pulsed lasers could be an effective tool in cancer treatment because they can destroy cancer cells accurately without harming nearby healthy tissue. However, more research is needed before using this method in real medical treatments.

⸻

Recommendation:

Further studies should explore pulsed laser effects on other cancer types and consider combining it with medicine for better results.

"AL_mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq"

al-mustaqbal University Website
