Al-Mustaqbal University Tops the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings Among All Iraqi Public and Private Universities

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the UK-based Times Higher Education (THE) organization announced the results of the THE Impact Rankings 2025, one of the most prestigious global rankings in higher education, which evaluates universities based on their performance in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<br />In a historic achievement, Al-Mustaqbal University ranked first among all Iraqi public and private universities, placing it at the forefront of national higher education institutions adopting a comprehensive vision of sustainable development. This milestone further enhances the university's academic and research reputation both regionally and internationally.<br /><br />Globally, Al-Mustaqbal University was ranked in the 201–300 band out of 2,526 universities from 130 countries across all continents—an unprecedented record that reflects the high level of competitiveness in this distinguished ranking.<br /><br />The university demonstrated exceptional performance across several SDGs, most notably:<br /><br />Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy:<br />Ranked 1st globally, surpassing renowned universities in Europe, the U.S., and Asia.<br /><br />Goal 1 – No Poverty:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked within the 101–200 global band.<br /><br />Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being:<br />2nd in Iraq, ranked within the 101–200 global band.<br /><br />Goal 4 – Quality Education:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked within the 201–300 global band.<br /><br />Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation:<br />1st in Iraq, 60th globally.<br /><br />Goal 13 – Climate Action:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked within the 201–300 global band.<br /><br />Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked within the 101–200 global band.<br /><br /><br />This major academic and leadership achievement is the result of a clear strategic vision adopted by the university to be at the heart of modern development transformations.
