In alignment with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (Quality Education) and within the framework of the College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University to promote applied scientific research and serve all segments of society, the Department of Optics Technologies organized a scientific workshop entitled “Design and Manufacturing of a Smart Cane and Wallet for the Care of the Visually Impaired”, delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Munther Sameen Shakir, Head of the Department of Optics Technologies.
The workshop included a detailed presentation on the concept, design, and implementation of a smart cane and wallet aimed at supporting the visually impaired and empowering them to be more independent in their daily lives. The project integrates modern technologies such as sensors, audio, and vibration alerts to help users detect obstacles and move safely. The workshop also highlighted the importance of such innovations in improving the quality of life for people with visual impairments.
