Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Shaker Majdi, the College
of Engineering organized a workshop titled “Water Resources Management Under Climate Change.” This workshop comes as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to enhance awareness of environmental issues and natural resource challenges.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Wissam Khalaf Ubaid, Director General of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs at the Ministry of Water Resources. He discussed the major challenges posed by climate change to Iraq’s water system and its impact on the operation of dams and reservoirs. He also reviewed the latest national policies related to sustainable water management, as well as adaptation and mitigation strategies.
The event witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, whose scientific questions enriched the discussion and highlighted the importance of understanding the future of water security in Iraq.
This workshop reflects the commitment of the College of Engineering at the University of Al-Mustaqbal to providing applied academic activities that develop students’ skills and deepen their understanding of environmental and climate challenges.
