Al-Mustaqbal University / Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering Technologies, organized an awareness workshop in the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies. The workshop was delivered by:
Asst. Lecturer Sally Seelan Hussein, Asst. Lecturer Alaa Hussein Abdul Ameer, and Asst. Lecturer Haneen Fadhel Kazem, within the framework of the Iraqi National Plan for Women – Pillar Five: Enhancing the Role of Women in Managing Climate Change Risks and Protecting the Environment.
As part of the department’s community-service activities, a team of faculty members visited Al-Siyada School, where they presented a lecture titled:
“Cyber Extortion and Its Impact on Teenage Girls”
The lecture discussed the risks of cyber extortion, its most common methods, and how students can protect themselves online. It also outlined the correct steps to take when facing any extortion attempt, emphasizing the importance of digital awareness and avoiding the sharing of personal information on the internet.
The visit also included an introduction to Al-Mustaqbal University, its academic departments, and the advantages of studying there. A brief presentation highlighted the university’s academic programs and student services as part of its efforts to enhance community engagement and guide students toward majors that align with their interests and aspirations.
The activity received strong interaction from the students, who raised several questions and engaged in discussions on how to avoid such risks—reflecting the importance of such initiatives in promoting digital safety and awareness in schools.
Objective of the Activity
This activity aims to enhance digital awareness among female students, empower them to protect themselves from cyber extortion, strengthen community partnerships, and reinforce the university’s role in spreading knowledge and responsible guidance within the community.
