Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies at Mustaqbal University, the College organized an educational scientific seminar in collaboration with the Babylon Health Directorate / Public Health Department / Communicable Diseases Control Unit. The event was held in conjunction with World AIDS Day, an international occasion dedicated to raising health awareness and supporting people living with HIV, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
The session was moderated by Dr. Firas Sattar Ghani, who opened the seminar by emphasizing the significance of this global event and its role in promoting health literacy and fostering a community that adopts responsible and preventive practices.
The seminar was attended by a delegation from the Babylon Health Directorate, led by the Director of the Immunodeficiency Control Unit, Dr. Ali Ghazi Alloush, who delivered a scientific and educational lecture on immunodeficiency. He highlighted the importance of breaking social stigma and strengthening humane, compassionate approaches toward individuals living with HIV.
The seminar also featured a variety of awareness messages, along with the signing of a symbolic pledge titled:
“I pledge to be a voice for awareness… No to stigma.”
This pledge expressed the commitment of students and participants to supporting the rights of people living with HIV and rejecting discrimination. Students further contributed by sharing additional awareness messages to promote a culture of prevention and health education.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Dr. Zahraa Haleem Al-Qayem, presented a Shield of Appreciation to the delegation from the Babylon Health Directorate in recognition of their cooperation and efforts in promoting health awareness and supporting sustainable development goals related to health and well-being.
