Within the framework of strengthening its academic and societal presence in specialized scientific forums, Mustaqbal University participated in the Fourth International Scientific Conference of the Iraqi Society for Clinical Biochemistry, held at Khatam Al-Anbiyaa Hall in the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine in Karbala Governorate, on Wednesday, 26 November 2025. The conference activities continued for two days.
The conference was organized through cooperation between the Iraqi Society for Clinical Biochemistry and the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, under the theme: “Applied Sciences: Toward a Safe Environment Using Modern Technologies.”
It witnessed broad scientific attendance, bringing together a distinguished group of researchers and academics from public and private universities, in addition to scientific contributions from the Kurdistan Region and researchers from outside Iraq.
The opening ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Iraqi national anthem, and welcoming speeches delivered by representatives of the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, the President of the Iraqi Society for Clinical Biochemistry, and the Conference Chair. All speeches emphasized the importance of applied scientific research and its role in advancing healthcare and diagnostic practices.
Mustaqbal University had a distinguished presence at this scientific event through the participation of Professor Dr. Fadhil Jawad Al-Tu‘mah, faculty member in the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Mustaqbal University, and Professor of Clinical Biochemistry at the College of Medicine, University of Karbala, who chaired the first scientific session of the conference.
The scientific sessions included the presentation of several specialized applied research papers in the fields of disease diagnosis, interpretation of pathophysiological mechanisms, and monitoring therapeutic responses using modern techniques. Additional studies were presented in the form of scientific posters, reflecting the advancement of research in clinical biochemistry and its direct significance for human health.
The substantial support provided by the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, under the patronage of His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, the Sharia custodian of the shrine, played a pivotal role in the success of the conference. In a blessed symbolic gesture, the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine presented the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), raised atop his sacred dome, to the Iraqi Society for Clinical Biochemistry. The banner was handed over by Professor Dr. Fadhil Jawad Al-Tu‘mah to the President of the Society, Assistant Professor Dr. Khalida Salih Mirza, in addition to honoring a number of researchers and session chairs with commemorative shields and conference gifts.
The conference concluded with the announcement of eleven scientific recommendations, focusing on developing the skills of researchers and professionals in the field of clinical biochemistry, expanding the use of advanced technologies and their practical application to serve diagnostic practices and disease monitoring, and contributing to the advancement of the healthcare system.
