The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Education organized an awareness and educational campaign under the supervision of the Unit Head, Professor Dr. Thanaa Baha Al-Din, entitled “Smoking, Its Health Risks, Ways to Avoid It, and Its Impact on the Sustainability of Physical and Mental Health of the Individual and Society.” The campaign was held on Sunday, 7/12/2025, at 11:00 a.m., in the Humanities Building – Fifth Floor.
The campaign witnessed the participation of the Women’s Affairs Committee representatives from all departments of the College, in addition to the attendance of a number of department heads, faculty members, and students. The campaign included providing guidance and scientific explanations on the physical and psychological dangers of smoking, methods of prevention, and its negative effects on individuals and society in both the short and long term.
This activity comes as part of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women / Axis Three – Paragraph (1), aiming to enhance community awareness of the harms of smoking, promote concepts of maintaining physical and mental health, and contribute to building a healthy and aware society capable of achieving comprehensive health sustainability.
