Al-Mustaqbal University Ranked Among the Top 15 Iraqi Universities in the Quality of Scientific Publishing and Achieves Distinguished Performance According to the Global CNCI Index

Al-Mustaqbal University has recorded an advanced scientific standing by being ranked among the top 15 Iraqi universities in scientific publishing, according to an analysis of Web of Science database records for the period 2020–2024. The analysis was based on the number of published research papers, the Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI), and the percentage of publications ranked within the top 10% worldwide. The results of the analysis showed that Al-Mustaqbal University produced 3,192 published scientific papers during the specified period, placing it among the leading Iraqi universities in terms of research output, alongside well-established institutions such as the University of Baghdad, the University of Technology, and Al-Mustansiriyah University. This figure reflects a notable growth in the University’s research activity and an expansion of its participation in international scientific publishing. Qualitative indicators further demonstrated Al-Mustaqbal University’s excellence in research quality and impact, as it achieved a CNCI value of 1.28, exceeding the global average. In addition, 16.07% of its publications were classified among the top 10% worldwide in terms of citations. This positions the University ahead of several institutions with larger research outputs and confirms that, according to Web of Science indicators, Al-Mustaqbal University represents a balanced model that combines research volume with quality and international impact. This achievement aligns with the University’s strategic orientation toward supporting rigorous research and enhancing publication in high-reputation international journals. In a statement to Al-Mustaqbal University Media, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, indicated that this achievement confirms the University’s growing status within the Iraqi research landscape and reflects the institutional efforts exerted by the University leadership and its academic and research staff to advance scientific research as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and the building of a knowledge-based economy.
