Winter is one of the seasons that has a significant impact on skin health and appearance. Low temperatures and reduced humidity levels can cause the skin to become dry, rough, and less elastic. Therefore, special care is required during winter to maintain healthy and glowing skin.
Cold and dry air weakens the skin’s natural protective barrier, making it more prone to dryness, redness, and irritation. In addition, frequent exposure to indoor heating further reduces skin moisture. For this reason, adopting a proper skincare routine during winter is essential.
One of the most important steps in winter skincare is regular moisturization. It is recommended to use rich moisturizers that contain effective ingredients such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter, as these help lock moisture into the skin. Moisturizing should be done at least twice daily, especially after washing the face or taking a shower.
Cleansing the skin should be done gently using mild, alcohol-free cleansers, as harsh products and very hot water can strip the skin of its natural oils and increase dryness.
Gentle exfoliation is also important to remove dead skin cells and promote skin renewal, which improves the absorption of moisturizers. However, exfoliation should not be excessive and is best done once a week using gentle exfoliating products.
In addition to external care, internal care plays a vital role in skin health. Drinking enough water and consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins—especially vitamins A and E—helps maintain skin hydration and vitality. Moreover, using sunscreen during winter is essential, as ultraviolet rays can still damage the skin even on cold or cloudy days.
In conclusion, following an appropriate skincare routine during the winter season helps protect the skin from dryness and damage, keeping it healthy, smooth, and radiant throughout the season.
