A media symposium titled “Media Spotlight on the Crimes of the Totalitarian Regime – The Story of a Living Martyr” was held on Sunday morning at eleven o’clock in the Student Activities Hall of the Engineering Building. The event was organized by Assistant Lecturer Saif Al-Din Al-Shams, a faculty member in the Department of Media, and attended by a group of professors, students, and those interested in media and human rights issues. The symposium aimed to highlight the role of the media in documenting and exposing the crimes of totalitarian regimes, as well as to emphasize the importance of media storytelling in conveying the suffering of victims and bringing their voices to public opinion, through presenting a humanitarian example of the story of a “living martyr” and its human and national dimensions. The symposium covered several themes, including the responsibility of the media in professionally documenting violations, discussion of effective media methods in conveying the truth, and the role of academics and students in strengthening media awareness related to issues of justice and national memory.
