Ankle Joint Load Measurement System Project for Biological Applications
Supervised by: Dr. Ali Kamel Karim and Eng. Ikram Falah Hadi
This project aims to bridge the gap between expensive medical technologies and the need of patients and healthcare institutions for cost-effective solutions. A comprehensive, low-cost sensor was designed and implemented specifically for accurately measuring loads and pressures on the ankle joint.
The system relies on the precise integration of mechanical and electronic components, as shown in the diagram:
• Processing Unit: An Arduino Nano board is used to ensure small size and high data processing speed.
• Sensing Systems: Advanced pressure sensors and load cells are integrated to measure vertical and lateral forces.
• Display Interface: An integrated LCD screen provides real-time readings for the user or physical therapist.
• Power Supply: A portable system powered by rechargeable lithium batteries ensures patient mobility during the examination.
