This project is an innovation in the field of assistive technology, aiming to improve the quality of life for people with visual impairments. The device acts as an "electronic eye," helping the user navigate safely and independently by detecting obstacles in their path and alerting them to their presence before a collision.
The device relies primarily on the integration of the following electronic components:
• Ultrasonic Sensor: This sensor emits high-frequency sound waves and measures the time it takes for them to bounce back after hitting obstacles, allowing for accurate distance calculation.
• Buzzer/Vibration Alert System: When an obstacle is detected at close range, the system sends an audible or vibration alert to the user, prompting them to take immediate action.
• Processing unit (Arduino): Receives data from the sensors and processes it to make the appropriate alert decision.
