Towards an Aware Society: Women’s Empowerment for Sustainable Development

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Department of Cosmetic and Laser Technologies, with the participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Fatima Hashim Abbas and Ms. Shahd Nawras Abbas, organized an awareness campaign and a field visit as part of the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, within the framework of the Participation and Institutional Reform Pillar / Paragraph Three, and in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The campaign was held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Al-Khansaa Secondary School for Girls, and included the distribution of an awareness brochure entitled: “Women’s Empowerment… A Decision That Shapes the Future.” The campaign aimed to raise awareness of the importance of women’s empowerment, particularly among girls at the educational stage, as it represents a fundamental pillar in building an informed and cohesive society. It highlighted the role of education in empowering women to make decisions and actively participate in shaping the future. The campaign emphasized that educating girls contributes to raising societal awareness, enhancing self-confidence, developing intellectual and scientific capacities, and reducing social and economic challenges. The campaign also stressed the importance of supporting and encouraging girls to continue their education and providing a supportive educational environment that ensures equal opportunities, thereby preparing a conscious generation capable of contributing to sustainable development and building a more stable and just future.
