The Department of Biology organized an awareness campaign titled “Disease Prevention and Chronic Diseases” supervised by Ms. Banin Ma’n Karim and Ms. Duha Salah Sahib, as part of the department’s continuous efforts to enhance health awareness among students and link scientific knowledge to practical reality. The campaign included the distribution of awareness materials aimed at clarifying the importance of prevention as a fundamental choice for maintaining public health, with a focus on common chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart diseases. It also explained ways to prevent these diseases through adopting a healthy lifestyle based on balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, avoiding smoking, and periodic medical check-ups. The campaign also addressed the importance of raising awareness about early symptoms of diseases and the need for prompt response, in addition to educating students about the importance of adopting healthy behaviors in their daily lives to reduce the risk of chronic diseases that affect the quality of life. Organizing this campaign confirms the educational role of the Department of Biology in building a health-aware generation capable of making sound health choices and contributing to spreading a culture of prevention within the university community and beyond.
