Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division, the Department of Fuel and Energy Engineering Technologies at the Engineering Technical College organized an awareness activity on Monday, January 19, 2026.
The activity was titled:
“Awareness Workshop on Extremism and Violence Leading to Terrorism.”
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Salah and addressed the concept of intellectual extremism, its social and psychological causes, and its risks to individual and societal security. It also highlighted the connection between violence and extremism and their role in fueling terrorism.
The workshop aimed to enhance students’ intellectual awareness, promote a culture of dialogue and tolerance, and reinforce national belonging. It emphasized the role of youth and educational institutions in preventing extremist ideologies and building a safe and stable society.
The activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:
• SDG 4: Quality Education, by fostering intellectual awareness and rejecting extremism
• SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting a culture of societal peace and combating violence and terrorism
This activity falls within the pillar of women protection and violence prevention, reflecting the university’s efforts to instill values of peace, intellectual and social security, and to strengthen a safe and stable academic environment.
