The Department of Anesthesia Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies organized a specialized training workshop for first-year students entitled: “Workshop: Mastering Venous Blood Collection to Enhance Patient Safety and Sustainable Care.” The workshop was led and presented by Assistant Lecturer Ammar Badri Younis, Practical Instructor of Physiology, with active participation from the supporting team consisting of Teaching Assistant Ali Rasoul and Teaching Assistant Estabraq Rasoul. The workshop included intensive scientific and practical sessions, beginning with an explanation of internationally approved protocols for accurately selecting venous sites. The instruction covered improving performance efficiency to reduce medical supply wastage, implementing infection control measures, and safely disposing of sharp waste to ensure a sustainable healthy environment. It also emphasized enhancing professional communication between the technician and the patient to ensure high-quality healthcare. This theoretical guidance was followed by hands-on training for students on safe blood collection techniques, integrating knowledge with practical skills. The workshop was held in the department’s laboratories on Sunday, January 18, 2026, and is part of the early training program adopted by the college to prepare highly qualified medical technology personnel combining theoretical knowledge with practical expertise.
