The Department of biology organized an awareness campaign under the slogan “Small Steps Towards the Sustainable Development Goals,” supervised by Lecturer Assistant Duha Salah Sahib, with the aim of raising environmental awareness among students and the community and highlighting simple actions that everyone can follow to support the environment and reduce pollution. Brochures were distributed to students in the university corridors, containing a set of daily practices that contribute to environmental protection, such as reducing the use of plastic materials, recycling, conserving water and energy, maintaining public cleanliness, and encouraging the planting of plants and small gardens. The campaign also emphasized the importance of making these steps part of our daily behaviors to achieve a sustainable positive impact in the long term. The campaign was aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, most notably: Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by reducing waste and adopting sustainable consumption practices. Goal 13: Climate Action, by reducing emissions and pollution resulting from poor waste management and unsustainable consumption. Goal 15: Life on Land, by protecting natural resources and preserving biodiversity and plant cover. Al-Mustaqbal University is the leading university in Iraq.
