The seminar was delivered by Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Rubaie, Asst. Lecturer Saif Al-Din Ali Jasim, and Asst. The seminar addressed the concept of media literacy and its role in developing critical thinking, highlighting the phenomenon of mental decay as one of the contemporary intellectual challenges resulting from the uncritical consumption of media content, in addition to the consequences generated by the misuse of artificial intelligence. Al-Rubaie added that organizing this seminar stemmed from the academic need to immunize society—especially young people—against the negative effects of unverified information and irresponsible media discourse. The speakers explained mechanisms for promoting media literacy through educational curricula and awareness programs, stressing the importance of educational institutions in building sound media awareness. The seminar also witnessed notable interaction from the audience, culminating in scientific discussions and valuable interventions that enriched the seminar’s themes and contributed to deepening understanding of the relationship between media and mental and intellectual health. This seminar comes the academic efforts of Al-Mustaqbal University, specifically the Department of Media, in supporting scientific research and spreading media culture, in a way that contributes to confronting negative intellectual phenomena and building a conscious society capable of discernment and analysis.
