The Department of Anesthesia Technologies Organizes a Practical Workshop on Intravenous Cannulation for First-Year Students

The Department of Anesthesia Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies organized a practical training workshop for first-year students on Sunday, January 25, 2026, under the supervision of Ali Qasim, entitled “Intravenous Cannulation.” The workshop was conducted as part of the department’s practical activities aimed at enhancing students’ fundamental clinical skills. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the basics of intravenous cannulation and highlight its importance in various medical and anesthetic procedures. It included a simplified explanation of the different types of cannulas and their clinical uses, as well as guidance on selecting the appropriate vein. The practical training emphasized adherence to sterilization protocols, infection control measures, and the proper handling of medical instruments to ensure patient safety. The workshop also focused on building students’ self-confidence at early academic stages and preparing them for future clinical training. This activity supports one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, by preparing qualified healthcare personnel who adhere to safety procedures and contribute to delivering safe and effective healthcare services.
