The Department of Anesthesia Techniques organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Inhalational Gases and Their Mechanism of Action”, presented by Lecturer Istabraq Rasool Hussein, with the participation of faculty members and students of the department.
The workshop addressed an introduction to inhalational gases used in general anesthesia, with a detailed explanation of their types and physical and chemical properties, in addition to their mechanism of action within the central nervous system and their effects on loss of consciousness, analgesia, and muscle relaxation. The workshop also highlighted safe administration methods, factors affecting absorption and distribution, potential side effects, and ways to minimize them.
The workshop emphasized the role of qualified healthcare professionals in improving the quality of healthcare services, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), through promoting safe anesthesia practices and enhancing the level of medical services provided to patients.
The workshop witnessed fruitful scientific interaction among attendees, providing an opportunity to raise questions and discuss clinical aspects related to the use of inhalational gases in practical settings.
This workshop comes as part of a series of scientific activities organized by the Department of Anesthesia Techniques, aiming to develop academic and clinical skills and to support the path of sustainable development in the healthcare sector.
