The Department of biology organized a scientific workshop entitled “Microbiology and Its Relationship with the Environment,” presented and supervised by Professor Ali Kumait Hamad, a faculty member in the Department of biology The workshop was held as part of the department’s scientific activities aimed at enhancing academic knowledge and linking scientific concepts to contemporary environmental issues. The workshop addressed the role of microorganisms in various ecosystems and their importance in maintaining environmental balance. It also highlighted their contributions to pollutant degradation, their role in biogeochemical cycles, and their impact on both human health and the environment. In addition, the workshop shed light on the interactive relationship between microorganisms and environmental factors, as well as the challenges facing the environment due to climate change and pollution. The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and students of the department and was characterized by productive scientific interaction and constructive discussions, which contributed to deepening scientific understanding of the topic and raising awareness of the importance of employing scientific research to address environmental problems. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the Department of biology aiming to enhance academic standards, develop students’ research skills, and promote a culture of environmental awareness and sustainability, in line with the university’s mission of serving the community and supporting sustainable development.
