The College of Dentistry at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a practical training session for fourth-year students as part of the General Medicine course. The training was held in the college’s classrooms under the supervision of Professor Dr. Saad Hassan Mohammed Ali, with the aim of strengthening students’ fundamental clinical skills and enabling them to perform essential vital sign assessments, particularly blood pressure measurement, which plays a crucial role in evaluating a patient’s general health status prior to any dental procedure.
The session included a hands-on explanation of the correct technique for measuring blood pressure, along with an introduction to the various types of blood pressure devices commonly used in hospitals and clinics, including mercury, manual, and digital monitors. Students were trained on the proper use of each device, their levels of accuracy, and the appropriate situations for their use. The training also focused on how to accurately read and interpret results and relate them to the patient’s overall medical condition, thereby enhancing the safety of future clinical practices in educational dental clinics.
This activity forms part of the College’s ongoing efforts to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, elevate students’ clinical competence, and prepare them to manage patients according to sound scientific and professional standards. The program was conducted with direct follow-up from the Deanship of the College of Dentistry, reflecting its continued commitment to developing high-quality educational and training programs.
