A group of first-year students carried out an educational awareness activity through the distribution of informative brochures highlighting the importance of energy and its vital role in supporting national economies, whether through conventional fossil-fuel-based sources or renewable energy resources.
The brochures included simplified explanations of the close relationship between energy and economic development, its impact on supporting industrial and service sectors, as well as emphasizing the role of renewable energy in achieving sustainability, reducing environmental emissions, and enhancing long-term energy security.
This activity aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
SDG 13: Climate Action
The initiative contributed to raising community awareness about the importance of rational energy consumption and the need to diversify energy sources. It also enhanced students’ communication and teamwork skills, while linking theoretical knowledge with practical application, reflecting the role of academic institutions in serving society and supporting sustainable development pathways.
