In the context of applied educational activities of the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering, a practical lecture for the course Orthotics I was held at the Prosthetics and Orthotics Workshop. The lecture was delivered by Engineer Aya Talib Hassan, with the assistance of workshop technician Mohammed Habib, on Sunday, 8/2/2026. The lecture provided an introductory overview of below-knee orthoses, highlighting their functional role in supporting movement and improving stability. It also included an explanation of the basic principles of design and clinical use, contributing to the enhancement of students’ practical understanding and strengthening the link between theoretical knowledge and hands-on application. This lecture aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through preparing engineering professionals capable of contributing to improved quality of life for individuals with physical disabilities; Goal 4: Quality Education, by adopting practical, application-based learning; and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by developing students’ skills in the field of modern assistive and rehabilitative technologies.
