The Department of biology organized an awareness campaign entitled “Horticulture: Discover the Beauty of Gardening”, under the supervision of Assist. Lect. Zainab Nazem Aziz, as part of the department’s efforts to raise environmental awareness and promote a culture of caring for plants and green spaces within the university community. The campaign aimed to highlight the concept of horticulture and its importance in improving the environment, its role in supporting mental and physical health, as well as its contribution to enhancing natural beauty and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among students. The campaign activities included distributing informative brochures across the university corridors, containing guidance on the basics of home gardening, the importance of plants in air purification and maintaining ecological balance, in addition to directing students toward simple practices that help spread green spaces. The campaign witnessed wide positive engagement from university students and staff, with discussions and questions exchanged regarding plant care methods and their impact on improving the quality of life on campus. This campaign is part of a series of awareness activities implemented by the Department of biology, reaffirming its scientific and societal role in supporting environmental issues, promoting a culture of sustainability, and preserving natural resources.
