The College of Dentistry at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an awareness workshop entitled (Hate Speech and Its Impact on Social Stability,) delivered by Dr. Ali Salman, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Dentistry and attended by a distinguished group of faculty members and teaching assistants. The workshop was held as part of the College’s commitment to promoting intellectual and social awareness and reinforcing human values within the academic environment.
The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the concept of hate speech and its manifestations in contemporary societies, whether through traditional media, social media platforms, or everyday discourse. It examined the psychological, social, and cultural factors contributing to its spread, while highlighting its negative consequences, including social division, the destabilization of civil peace, and the weakening of coexistence and mutual respect. Particular attention was given to the impact of hate speech on youth, who are among the most vulnerable groups to unregulated and misleading content.
The session also emphasized the vital role of educational institutions, particularly universities, in promoting a culture of tolerance, acceptance of diversity, and constructive dialogue. It underscored the importance of equipping students with critical thinking skills that enable them to distinguish between freedom of expression and incitement, thereby contributing to the development of a cohesive society grounded in respect and understanding.
This activity forms part of a series of awareness initiatives organized by the College Deanship in support of its educational and societal mission, reflecting its commitment to fostering social stability and preparing a conscious generation capable of contributing positively to national intellectual and social security.
