The Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering launched an awareness campaign to reduce the use of single-use plastic products, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ghadir Haider Abbas and Assistant Lecturer Maryam Ghassan Ghaffar, as part of the department’s environmental activities. The campaign aimed to educate students about the serious risks that single-use plastics pose to public health and the environment, including air, water, and soil pollution. It also highlighted the dangers of microplastics, which can enter food chains and negatively affect human health and wildlife. The campaign included seminars, lectures, and workshops discussing ways to replace single-use plastics with more sustainable alternatives and to encourage environmentally friendly daily habits, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and the promotion of environmental awareness among students.
