In line with the university’s commitment to promoting public health and creating a safe educational environment, an awareness campaign was launched on campus under the slogan “Smoke-Free University,” supervised by Assistant Lecturer Maryam Ghassan Ghaffar and Engineer Aya Talib Hassan. The campaign targeted students and university staff to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and its negative impact on individual and community health.
The campaign included various awareness activities such as distributing educational brochures, displaying informative posters, and providing health guidance on the physical and psychological harms caused by smoking and passive smoking. Special emphasis was placed on its effects on the respiratory system and the heart, as well as its negative impact on the university environment.
The organizers emphasized that this initiative is part of the university’s ongoing programs aimed at spreading health awareness among students, encouraging them to adopt healthy lifestyles, and reducing harmful behaviors, thereby contributing to the development of a conscious and responsible generation.
