The Tari Academic Research Institute highlighted the Traditional Tattoo Project (Dag) – Season Two and the art exhibition organized by Dr. Angham Saleem Al-Dulaimi, Chair of the Department of Archaeology at Al-Mustaqbal University , emphasizing the importance of this project in preserving popular heritage and documenting elements of cultural identity in Iraq. The institute stated that the second season achieved remarkable results by expanding the fieldwork to include several central and southern governorates, where diverse examples of traditional tattoos were documented, and their symbolic and social meanings were observed, in addition to recording oral narratives associated with them. The project also contributed to building a scientific database documenting this heritage as part of Iraq’s intangible cultural memory. The institute confirmed that the project is not limited to documentation alone but represents an important scientific step towards studying the social and symbolic transformations of body arts in Iraqi society, noting that these efforts contribute to heritage preservation and raise awareness of its importance among younger generations.
