Under the patronage of the President of Future University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, and with the follow-up and supervision of the Presidency of the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems, a panel discussion entitled: “Technology and Mental Health in the Digital Age: The Impact of Smart Devices and Social Media on Individual Mental Health” was held and delivered by Lecturer Assistant Najat Hamid Jassim, in the presence of a distinguished group of faculty members and students of the department. The session addressed the most prominent psychological challenges associated with the excessive use of smart devices and social media platforms, highlighting their impact on increasing levels of anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and reduced direct social interaction. It also discussed the positive aspects of technology when used moderately and responsibly, particularly in supporting mental health through therapeutic applications and online counseling services. The discussion witnessed active and constructive participation from professors and students, where practical ideas and proposals were presented to promote the safe and responsible use of modern technologies. Emphasis was placed on the importance of achieving digital balance, as well as the role of families and educational institutions in raising health awareness. At the conclusion of the session, the organizers stressed the importance of continuing such scientific activities that contribute to raising community awareness and promoting a healthy digital culture, serving both students and society alike. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
