As part of academic activities aimed at enhancing knowledge and developing students’ presentation and analytical skills, a student delivered a presentation on fossil fuels, highlighting their origin, historical development, and significant role in supporting the Industrial Revolution and the global economy.
The presentation provided a detailed explanation of the main types of fossil fuels—oil, coal, and natural gas—clarifying their formation over millions of years and their importance in meeting global energy demands. The student also addressed the environmental impacts associated with fossil fuel consumption, particularly greenhouse gas emissions and climate change, in addition to discussing the global challenges related to the transition toward renewable energy sources.
The activity witnessed active engagement from attendees, with various scientific questions and discussions that enriched the topic and promoted critical thinking, reflecting the importance of such initiatives in fostering a culture of academic dialogue within the educational environment.
This activity aligns closely with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting academic excellence and research skills; SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, by addressing energy-related challenges and sustainable alternatives; and SDG 13: Climate Action, by highlighting the environmental impacts of fossil fuels and the importance of reducing carbon emissions.
This initiative forms part of a series of academic events designed to prepare students with strong scientific awareness of global energy issues and to empower them to contribute effectively to building a more sustainable future.
