Activating the Role of Agricultural Waste in Organic Fertilizer Production: A Scientific Workshop for Third-Year biology Students

The Department of biology at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled “Recycling Agricultural Waste for Organic Fertilizer Production”, presented by Lecturer M.Sc. Zeinab Nazem Aziz, on Sunday, 15/2/2026, at the Humanities Building, with the participation of third-year students. The workshop aimed to familiarize students with the importance of utilizing agricultural waste and recycling it using modern scientific methods to produce organic fertilizer, given its vital role in supporting environmental sustainability, reducing pollution, and enhancing soil fertility. It also addressed the scientific principles of biodegradation processes and the role of microorganisms in converting waste into environmentally and agriculturally valuable products. This workshop comes within the framework of linking environmental topics and agricultural applications to the Life Sciences curriculum, thereby enhancing students’ knowledge and practical skills, and highlighting the active role of the discipline in addressing environmental issues and contributing to sustainable development. The department emphasizes its commitment to organizing scientific activities that promote environmental awareness and strengthen the connection between academic outputs and the needs of the local community.
