First-year students in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries conducted a field survey at the Najaf Depot entitled “Noise Pollution in Refineries and Its Impact on Workers and the Environment,” under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Abrar Falah Naji. This activity was part of practical initiatives aimed at strengthening the students’ applied skills.
The survey involved collecting field data on the sources of noise in refineries, assessing their impact levels on workers, and evaluating compliance with occupational safety procedures and personal protective equipment standards. The students also discussed proposed solutions to reduce noise pollution, such as implementing sound insulation systems and conducting regular equipment maintenance.
This activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting workers’ safety and reducing environmental risks, as well as Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by enhancing awareness of safe and sustainable industrial practices.
