The Department of biology organized an awareness campaign entitled “Fundamentals of Photosynthesis”, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Zainab Nazim Aziz, on Wednesday, 18/2/2026, in the university corridors. This initiative was part of the department’s ongoing scientific and educational activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and supporting the academic process. The campaign included the distribution of informative brochures highlighting the basic concepts of photosynthesis, its essential role in sustaining life on Earth, its contribution to oxygen production and organic matter synthesis, as well as the key factors affecting its efficiency and its impact on food security and ecological balance. The campaign aimed to: Enhance scientific awareness of the importance of photosynthesis in sustaining life. Promote environmental culture among students and encourage the protection of plant life. Link theoretical knowledge with contemporary environmental and developmental applications. Support the university’s sustainability-oriented vision. This activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, particularly: Goal 4: Quality Education. Goal 13: Climate Action. Goal 15: Life on Land. This campaign represents one of the department’s ongoing initiatives to reinforce scientific knowledge, encourage environmental responsibility, and actively support the diverse academic and community activities of the Department of biology.
