The Department of biology organized an awareness campaign entitled “Fire Safety Tips for Your Home” under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Zainab Nazim Aziz, as part of its ongoing outreach activities aimed at promoting safety awareness among university students and the academic community. The campaign included the distribution of educational brochures across the university corridors, highlighting the main causes of household fires and practical prevention measures. These included ensuring the safety of electrical wiring, avoiding leaving electrical appliances unattended, keeping flammable materials away from heat sources, maintaining a fire extinguisher at home and knowing how to use it properly, as well as preparing an emergency evacuation plan. The campaign aimed to: Raise awareness about the risks of household fires and preventive measures. Promote proper and rapid response in emergency situations. Reduce human and material losses resulting from domestic accidents. Reinforce individual responsibility in maintaining public safety. This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. This initiative forms part of the department’s continuous efforts to serve the community and enhance scientific and preventive awareness, contributing to a safer and more sustainable university environment.
