In the framework of applied scientific activities aimed at developing the skills of students at the College of Engineering Technologies and enhancing their practical capabilities, Al-Mustaqbal University organized a field trip for students of the Department of Fuel and Energy Technologies to the Dora Refinery. The trip was supervised by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of the University, with close follow-up by Assist. Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, and accompanied by Dr. Amar Abdul-Kadhim Fathi, Head of the Department of Fuel and Energy Technologies, and Dr. Hussain Kadhem Halwas, who oversaw the organization and management of the trip.
The trip aimed to familiarize students with industrial processes and technologies used in oil and fuel processing, enhancing their theoretical understanding and providing hands-on experience in a real work environment. The visit also focused on the importance of innovation, operational efficiency, and reducing environmental emissions, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
The field trip included tours of various production units, where students observed the stages of crude oil refining, fuel treatment, and quality control. They were also introduced to the latest technologies used to monitor environmental emissions and improve energy efficiency. Students emphasized the importance of such scientific excursions in strengthening their practical skills and linking theoretical knowledge to real-world applications, preparing them efficiently for the industrial job market.
