The department organized an awareness campaign titled “Together Against Extremism” under the supervision of Engineer Hussein Ahmed Kadhim, as part of a series of activities aimed at promoting intellectual awareness and reinforcing the values of moderation and tolerance within the university community.
The campaign sought to highlight the dangers of extremism and its intellectual and social causes, as well as to clarify its negative effects on individuals and society. It also promoted a culture of dialogue, acceptance of others, and the rejection of hate speech. The campaign included the distribution of awareness posters and informational brochures, in addition to direct meetings with students to answer their questions and discuss ways to prevent being drawn into extremist ideologies.
During his supervision of the campaign activities, Engineer Hussein Ahmed Kadhim emphasized that the responsibility of confronting extremism lies with everyone, pointing to the importance of cooperation among educational institutions, families, and the wider community to build intellectual awareness that protects young people from destructive ideas.
This campaign aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, which calls for building peaceful and inclusive societies, reducing all forms of violence and extremism, and promoting a culture of peace and peaceful coexistence.
