The Department of Medical Biotechnology at the College of Science organized a scientific workshop entitled “Chemical Waste” as part of its academic activities aimed at promoting proper laboratory practices and rationalizing the use of chemical materials.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Hussein Mahdi Abd, with the participation of Lecturer Ahmed Jalal Neama. The session addressed the concept of chemical waste, its causes in educational and research laboratories, its environmental and health impacts, and effective methods to reduce it through proper chemical management and adherence to laboratory safety procedures.
The workshop was attended by second-year students and was conducted in the department’s scientific laboratories. It included scientific discussions and practical applications that enhanced students’ understanding of the importance of optimal chemical usage and waste reduction in accordance with quality and safety standards.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the department to support the educational process and strengthen environmental awareness and professional responsibility among students.
