Mental Health: The Key to Sustainable Education

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education, Professor Dr. Ahmed Radwan, the college held a specialized scientific workshop on Monday, February 10, 2026, entitled “Mental Health: The Key to Sustainable Education.” The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and students. This workshop, organized by Ms. Amal Mohammed Jaber in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, was part of the college's efforts to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and its pivotal role in supporting quality education and achieving sustainability in the academic environment. The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Abdul Salam Jawdat, Head of the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, who reviewed the most prominent concepts related to mental health and its impact on academic achievement, learning motivation, and students' behavioral and emotional stability. The workshop addressed several topics, including: - The concept of mental health in educational institutions. - The relationship between psychological balance and the quality of academic performance. - The psychological challenges facing students at the university level. - Mechanisms for psychological support and guidance, and ways to foster a safe and stimulating learning environment. The workshop also witnessed significant interaction from the attendees through insightful interventions and scholarly discussions that emphasized the importance of integrated efforts between university administration, faculty members, and psychological counseling units to establish a culture of prioritizing mental health as a fundamental pillar in achieving sustainable education. At the conclusion of the workshop, a number of recommendations were emphasized, most notably the necessity of activating regular guidance programs, organizing training workshops for faculty members in the field of educational psychological support, and integrating mental health concepts into academic plans and activities.
