"The High Cost of Dowries and Its Negative Impact on Women's Delayed Marriage"

Under the patronage of Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Radwan Salman, Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Thanaa Bahaa Al-Din Abdullah, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit at the College, presented an awareness workshop on the high cost of dowries on Monday, February 23rd, at 10:00 AM at the College. The workshop was attended by the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Ahmed Al-Jundi, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Mr. Hussein Al-Shammari, and a number of faculty and administrative staff. The workshop addressed the concept of dowry in Islam, as presented in the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Hadiths. It explored the reasons behind the phenomenon of high dowries in our society and its negative impact, with a focus on women's delayed marriage. The workshop then discussed solutions to this phenomenon and offered appropriate suggestions. The workshop was well-received, with all participants actively sharing their opinions on the topic. This activity falls within the implementation plan of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women 2026, Axis 3, Paragraph 2, and contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
