Department of Forensic Evidence at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes a Scientific Workshop on “Human Rights and the Role of Forensic Evidence in Crime Detection”

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Assistant Professor and Dean of the College of Science, and the Head of the Department of Forensic Evidence, Assistant Professor Dr. Sami Abdul Hussein Habbana, the Department of Forensic Evidence organized a scientific workshop entitled “Human Rights and the Role of Forensic Evidence in Crime Detection” on Wednesday, 18/2/2026, at the Humanities Building Hall. The College of Science played a central organizational and academic role by forming a scientific committee to supervise the workshop themes, preparing the academic program, coordinating invitations and attendance, and ensuring full logistical and technical readiness. The College ensured that the workshop addressed contemporary scientific and legal perspectives linking human rights principles with practical forensic applications. The event was directly supervised by the Deanship of the College of Science and the Head of the Department of Forensic Evidence, who oversaw the preparation of the scientific themes and emphasized balancing effective crime detection with the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms. The lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Raed Jawad Kazem, who discussed the legal frameworks of human rights within criminal procedures, the role of forensic laboratory technologies in achieving justice and uncovering the truth, and the importance of adhering to ethical and professional standards in forensic practice. The workshop witnessed wide attendance, including a large number of students from the Department of Forensic Evidence, along with distinguished faculty members and researchers from the College of Science, reflecting the importance of the topic and strong academic engagement. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), reinforcing the College’s commitment to promoting justice, human rights, and academic excellence.
