Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Assistant Professor and Dean of the College of Science, and the Head of the Department of Forensic Evidence, Assistant Professor Dr. Sami Abdul Hussein Habbana, the Department of Forensic Evidence organized a scientific workshop entitled “How to Collect Evidence from Crime Scenes” on Saturday, 21/2/2026, at the Humanities Building Hall. The College of Science played a central organizational and academic role by preparing a comprehensive plan for the workshop, forming a scientific committee to supervise its content, and designing practical training themes. The College also ensured logistical and technical readiness, providing instructional tools and demonstrations that simulate real crime scene environments to enhance students’ applied learning experience. The workshop was directly supervised by the Deanship of the College of Science and the Head of the Department of Forensic Evidence, who oversaw the selection of key applied topics related to evidence collection and preservation according to approved scientific and legal standards, with emphasis on procedural accuracy and integrity. The lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Muhannad Khalil, who presented systematic procedures for handling crime scenes, methods of documenting physical evidence, techniques for collecting biological and physical samples, and the importance of maintaining the chain of custody to ensure evidence admissibility in court. The workshop witnessed wide attendance, including a large number of students from the Department of Forensic Evidence, as well as several faculty members from the College of Science, reflecting strong academic interest in strengthening practical and professional competencies. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the promotion of high-quality practical education, Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by supporting justice systems and institutional effectiveness, and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
