On the occasion of **Rare Disease Day**, observed annually on February 28 to raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals living with rare diseases and their families, an awareness campaign was organized that included the distribution of educational brochures in several public places as well as health and educational institutions. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of community support and increase public understanding of rare diseases.
The activity was supervised by Assistant Lecturer **Ghadir Haider Abbas** and Assistant Lecturer **Maryam Ghassan Ghafar**, with the participation of Engineer **Aya Talib Hassan**. The campaign witnessed positive engagement from students and members of the public, reflecting interest in the information provided.
The brochure included a simple introduction to rare diseases and emphasized their significance, noting that hundreds of millions of people worldwide are affected by rare conditions. It stressed that raising awareness contributes to improving early diagnosis, enhancing treatment options, and strengthening psychological and social support for patients and their families.
This initiative comes as part of ongoing community responsibility efforts to promote health awareness and foster a more supportive and informed society.
