Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assist. Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, an awareness campaign titled “Renewable Energy and Its Role in Achieving Environmental Sustainability” was held. The campaign was implemented by Lecturer Asst. Prof. Najah Hamid Jasim, with the participation of several faculty members and students from the college. The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and bioenergy, as sustainable solutions that help reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change. It also emphasized the importance of rational energy consumption within the university and the wider community, highlighting the individual’s role in supporting the shift toward clean and environmentally friendly energy systems. The campaign included a demonstration of how solar energy systems operate, along with the distribution of educational materials and an open discussion with students on the practical applications of renewable energy in the health and industrial sectors, thereby promoting a culture of environmental innovation and social responsibility. At the conclusion of the campaign, the implementing lecturer stressed the importance of continuing awareness initiatives that spread the culture of sustainability and encourage students to adopt innovative projects and ideas supporting the transition to clean energy, in line with the university’s vision of serving society and achieving sustainable development. This activity aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly: Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production Goal 13: Climate Action This reflects the university’s commitment to supporting environmental initiatives and raising community awareness about sustainability issues.
