Under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, and supervised by the Student Activities Department, the 2026 Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Information Bank Competition, hosted by Al-Mustaqbal University, concluded on Tuesday evening, February 24, 2026. The closing ceremony was attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, along with a number of academic figures and representatives from Iraqi universities. The competition saw the participation of 58 public and private universities from across Iraq. It ran from February 22-24, 2026, with student teams competing over two days of intensive qualifying rounds under the supervision of the relevant ministerial committee. The atmosphere was characterized by seriousness, discipline, and a spirit of positive competition. The final results were as follows: * Al-Sibtain University of Medical Sciences won first place. * Al-Mustaqbal University won second place. * Wasit University won third place. At the conclusion of the events, the University President expressed his gratitude to the participating universities, the members of the ministerial committee, and the organizing committees, commending their efforts in ensuring the success of this distinguished scientific event. He also congratulated the winning teams, praising the high level of academic achievement that reflected the students' profound knowledge and culture, as well as their sportsmanship and constructive competition. His Excellency emphasized that the university's hosting of this competition aligns with its strategic vision of providing a university environment that fosters creativity and excellence, and supports scientific and cultural activities. This contributes to developing students' intellectual abilities and enhancing their knowledge, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's directives to nurture young talent and refine their skills. The Information Bank Competition is considered one of the most prominent student scientific events at the level of Iraqi universities, given its active role in promoting general knowledge and cultivating a spirit of positive competition among students, which positively impacts their academic journey and future careers.
