Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, with the follow-up and supervision of the Presidency of the Department of Medical Biotechnology, a dialogue session entitled “The Impact of Smart Devices and Social Media on Individual Mental Health” was held. The session was presented by Assistant Lecturer Sarah Rahim Hamza, with the attendance of a distinguished group of faculty members and students of the department. The session addressed the most prominent psychological challenges associated with the excessive use of smart devices and social media platforms, highlighting their impact on levels of anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and weakened direct social interaction. Participants also discussed the positive aspects of technology when used in a balanced and conscious manner, such as supporting mental health through therapeutic applications and online counseling services. The session witnessed valuable scientific contributions from professors and students, where practical ideas and proposals were presented to promote the safe and responsible use of modern technologies, emphasizing the importance of digital balance and the role of families and educational institutions in spreading health awareness. At the conclusion of the session, emphasis was placed on the importance of continuing such scientific activities that contribute to raising community awareness and enhancing healthy digital culture, serving both students and society alike.
