Financial Planning for Low-Income Families As part of the department’s plan to implement specialized scientific workshops aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the second scientific workshop entitled “Financial Planning for Low-Income Families” was held . The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Musa Al-Saabri, a faculty member in the Accounting Department. He presented a comprehensive scientific lecture addressing both the theoretical and practical foundations of family financial planning, with a focus on the challenges faced by low-income families amid economic changes and rising living costs. The workshop covered several key topics, including: • The concept of financial planning and its importance in achieving family stability. • Mechanisms for preparing a monthly budget and setting priorities. • Methods of rationalizing expenditures and reducing financial waste. • Debt management and avoiding financial distress. • Promoting a culture of saving and simple investment for families with limited resources. The lecturer also presented practical models and real-life case studies, outlining actionable steps families can follow to efficiently organize their financial resources and achieve a balance between income and expenditure. These measures contribute to improving living standards and enhancing family economic security. The workshop witnessed strong engagement from attendees through discussions, questions, and constructive contributions, which enriched the topic and emphasized the importance of spreading financial literacy within the community, particularly among low-income groups. This workshop aligns with the department’s commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 1: No Poverty and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by empowering individuals with sound financial management skills and promoting economic sustainability at both the family and community levels.
