Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, a scientific workshop entitled:
“Biosafety for Female Laboratory Staff: Protecting Reproductive Health and Public Health”
was held. The workshop was organized by the Women’s Affairs Division in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science / Department of Intelligent Medical Systems, with the participation of the Department of Medical Biotechnology Techniques, on Saturday, 28/2/2026.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturers Najat Hamid Jassim and Sara Rahim Hamza, who addressed key themes including promoting the concept of biosafety, identifying biological and chemical risks within laboratory environments, and clarifying their potential impact on reproductive health. The presenters also emphasized personal protective measures and emergency response mechanisms.
The workshop aimed to enhance preventive awareness among female staff, strengthen adherence to international professional standards, and empower women working in laboratory fields both health-wise and academically. This contributes to providing a safe work environment that supports public health and institutional sustainability.
The event witnessed positive interaction from attendees, with several questions and discussions that enriched understanding of the importance of implementing biosafety measures within laboratories.
This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to organizing scientific and awareness activities that support a healthy and safe work environment while empowering women in scientific and laboratory fields.
